DUTSE—THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Jigawa State has denied speculation that the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, was in thoughtful contact with chieftains and supporters of the ruling party to quit the PDP.
Speaking with newsmen in Dutse, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Mahmud Kuit, said the party received the unguided statement released to the general public by the so-called opposition APC in the state with disappointment, describing the news as untrue and capable of bringing chaos to the state.—
“None of our member is interested neither in contact with APC or defection,” he said.
Kuit explained that supporters and members of Jigawa PDP are united as one family and are very proud to associate themselves with the laudable projects executed by the current administration of Governor Sule Lamido in the last seven years.
He noted, however, that he had confidence on them that they will not betray the kind gesture done to them by the PDP leader in the state.
It will be recalled that Jigawa State APC Chairman, Alhaji Ado Kiri had told newsmen that the party was in serious contact with some PDP chieftains and supporters for urgent defection ahead of 2015 general elections.
But the PDP chairman said those APC was talking about in contact for defection were former Governor Ibrahim Turaki and his supporters, who are not members of the PDP because they were not registered in their respective wards, adding: “If it was those people they were talking about, we agreed and wish them well, but our supporters and members are not part of the journey.”
