Against the backdrop of rising unemployment in the country, wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, Friday, urged corps members of the 2014 National Youth Service Corps Batch ‘B’ to embrace the Skill Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SAED), organised by the scheme, noting that it presents opportunity for them to be employers of labour and not job seekers.
Fashola, who stated that the one year compulsory service to our fatherland is a time for reflection, admonished the corps members to tap and explore their God given potentials.
She said: “Gentlemen corps members, I always make it a duty to come and visit you, in order to inspire and motivate you on how to be better persons in life.
”Your service period should be seen as an opportunity to reflect on the passion and innate potentials that God has blessed you with. Take seriously the skills acquisition programmes the NYSC and other collaborating agencies will train you and help you discover your potentials now.”
Similarly, the General Manager, Training and Human Resource Development, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr Nath Abraham-Inajoh, who represented the former First Lady of Cross – Rivers State, Mrs. Onari Duke advised the corps members to concentrate on specialised entrepreneurial skills and explore with it.
