Bauchi—A Consultant Clinical microbiologist with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi, Professor Sambo Bello Zailani, has cautioned hunters and consumers of bush meat, to be weary of  the deadly Ebola virus.

Professor Zailani spoke yesterday in Bauchi, on  the Ebola epidemic.
According to Prof. Zailani, “due to the deadly nature of the virus, people should take all the necessary precautionary measures to prevent its spread. There are two mode of protection of the virus. We have the protection within the community and in the hospital level as transmission can be within these mediums. Within the community, people should refrain from consuming bush meat like gorilla, chimpanzees and bats.

“Secondly, areas that are infected with the disease should not be visited by people. Any suspected case of the virus should be reported to the closest health facility to avoid transmission to another person.”
He added that at the hospital level, the patient should be isolated in a different room to give the person adequate medical attention.
