ABUJA – FORMER Deputy Governor of Osun State and former Minister of state for Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada, yesterday, called on the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to call members of his party to order.

She accused All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state of harassing members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Obada was speaking in an interview with newsmen at the Inauguration and Investiture of Executives of Mass Mobilisation for Goodluck (MMG) 2015, in Abuja, the movement organized by former deputy governors to garner support for President Jonathan comes 2015 general election.

The Former Minister of State for Defence told Aregbesola to caution his members over attitude she described as reckless and molestation of PDP members in some area local governments in the state.

“Aregbesola should call his members to order and stop the brutality that is going on in Osun state,” she said.

However, Obada said that PDP in the state would overcome the loss suffered in the last Saturday’s governorship elections.

She said the party was not humiliated with the outcome of the election.

“We had a very good show despite the fact that the present governor is an incumbent, a level playing ground was created and Osun people came out en mass to vote,” she said.

According to her, a lot of efforts were made to reconcile aggrieved persons in the state chapter of PDP and bring them back to the party but proved abortive.

“A lot of propaganda is going on by the party that won. I won my ward very convincingly but they are saying that I had only three votes in my polling booth. It is not good for our democracy, PDP in Osun state will be strengthened, and we will do better in future elections.

“There is nothing like militarization of election, during the 2011 election, many PDP members were matcheted, some were chased away, the heavy security presence during the just concluded governorship election created a level playing field for people to come out to vote and it helped us to avert the violence that we witnessed in 2011 in the state,” she said.

The National Coordinator of Mass Movement for Goodluck 2015, Kenneth Ibe-kalu in his remarks said the success of the Osun state polls was a clear demonstration of Jonathan’s commitment to democracy.

He said Jonathan had demonstrated that the present administration was committed to transforming the electoral system ahead of the 2015 polls.

According to him, the president has performed well and deserved to be reelected, he has to declare and run in 2015 because the support for him is overwhelming.

“What makes MMG number one support group for Jonathan 2015 is that we are not just looking at the 2015 general elections. We are looking beyond 2015. What we stand for is good governance and that is why after President Jonathan must have been re-elected next year and finish his four year term in 2019, the forum will continue. We are mobilizing in order to instill values into Nigerians,” he stated.
