UYO—An Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Uyo, yesterday, granted bail to Mr. Thomas Thomas, an Editor of Uyo-based local tabloid, Global Concord, after 38 days in detention at the Department of State Services, DSS, facility.

The bail application was moved by a former Attorney-General of Akwa Ibom and lead counsel to Thomas, Mr. Victor Iyanam, who prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The accused person was arrested on July 1 and arraigned two days after before an Uyo Chief Magistrate’s Court on a three-count charge of using his medium to commit acts in contravention of the Akwa Ibom State Internal Security and Enforcement Law, 2009.
