The Confederation of Africa Football CAF has fixed Wednesday the 27th of August as the day the appeal board will meet in Cairo Egypt ,on the case by the Fédération Rwandaise de Football Association (FERWAFA) over their disqualification from the Orange Africa Cup of Nations –Morocco 2015 qualifiers.
Rwanda were disqualified from the group phase of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers by CAF’s Organising Committee for the qualifiers on August 17 for fielding an ineligible player in Etakiama Agiti in their preliminary qualifier victory over Congo on the 20th of July 2014.
The player who has dual nationality plays for AS Vita of Congo with a different name, Daddy Birori, and a DRC passport of different age with that of his Rwandan passport.
Congo was subsequently consigned to Group A as replacement for Rwanda, joining Nigeria, South Africa and Sudan for the final phase of the qualifiers.
Nigeria were earlier schedule to take on Rwanda on September 6 in Calabar before CAF disqualified them and replaced them with Congo.
The Eagles now have to wait for one week to know the result of the appeal as it will determine who they will face between Rwanda and Congo.
