Lagos—Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, Thursday called for a pan-political parties’ summit for politicians to fashion out a common front against the Boko Haram insurgency.
Chairman of the party, Dr. Frederick Fasehun, said it was disheartening that the Federal Government had not shown enough commitment to securing the release of over 200 Chibok girls.
Speaking at a forum in Lagos, tagged the ‘Dr. Fasehun Interactive Media Roundtable’, he argued that the pan-political parties summit would bring politicians from all shades together to forge a united front to combat the insurgents.
According to him, “Several countries have come to help but this assistance has not yielded expected result. Why has Nigeria been unable to reassure its citizens? I believe government is in placed to provide security for its citizens. How do we rescue these girls from insurgents? No political platform should politicize our misfortune.”
