The new Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi, has read riot act to motorists on reckless driving, saying that tougher sanctions await reckless motorists who goes against the rules.
Oyeyemi gave this indication shortly after his appointment as the new Corps Marshal by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Although he said, “it was too early to unveil his agenda for the corps, he promised to work hard to build on the foundation already laid by his predecessor, Osita Chidoka, who has been appointed Minister of Aviation.
Speaking further, Oyeyemi identified attitude of the Nigerian motoring public as the bane towards safer roads in the country and pledged that the FRSC will harness its potentials to ensure strict enforcement of traffic rules and regulations.
Addressing a parade later at the FRSC national headquarters in Abuja, the new Corps Marshal commended the president for the confidence he has in the FRSC to deliver on its mandate by appointing a career officer from the Corps to succeed the former Corps Marshal.
He also gave kudos to his former boss and the FRSC Board for making positive recommendations in the same direction which facilitated the Presidential approval for him as the new Corps Marshal.
He also urged officers and men of the FRSC to perceive this development as encouraging for the growth of the FRSC as obtained in other Para-Military agencies.
