The report, which was made available to operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, showed that the woman is mentally deranged.

This is just as the command debunked reports that a building owned by the church was a ritualist den.

Briefing newsmen on the outcome of the investigation, yesterday, the command’s spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, stated: “The reports were all lies. No victim of kidnap was rescued and no human bone was recovered at the location as reported in some sections of the media.

“The reports that kidnapped victims were rescued were all wrong. Family members of the purported kidnapped victims said they brought their relatives to the ministry for healing.

“Again, the medical result of the suspect, Rosemary Chukwu, who was sent to the psychiatric hospital to ascertain her level of sanity, has confirmed that she is mentally sick.

“Nevertheless, investigation is still ongoing. We have sent the report to the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP, to advise us on the next line of action and we will act according to the advice.

“We had to clarify as a lot of misinformation had been sent across. The Judiciary is currently on strike, when it calls off the strike, I believe the DPP’s advice will be ready.

“This is not to say that nobody committed any offence. What I am saying is that we are awaiting the DPP’s advice which will inform our next line of action.”

The medical report

The medical report obtained from the Federal Neuro-Phychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Lagos and signed by a Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr. Adebayo R. A. read in part: “Our assessment revealed that she has paranoid schizophrenia, a major psychotic disorder and will benefit from biophychosocial treatments as soon as possible.”

A mob, last month apprehended Rosemary Chukwu who allegedly abducted a seven-year-old primary school pupil who was going to fetch water from a public well.

The suspect, who resides at 33, Omologede Street, located behind C\S Primary School, reportedly kept the boy inside a box and was taking him to an unknown destination when she was apprehended.

During interrogation, she told the mob that Prophet Chukwuemeka asked her to bring the boy for ritual purpose.

But the clergy man in his statement to operatives at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba denied the claim, stating that Mrs Chukwu was unknown to his ministry.

He also told operatives that the room destroyed by the mob over allegation that it was used for ritual, was used to keep lunatics being prayed for.
