WARRI—OIL and gas stakeholders group, Host Communities of Nigeria, HOSTCOM, has called on Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, to permit a statutory provision that guarantees appointment of its members into the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC.
State chairman of the group, Dr. Peter Egedegbe, made the appeal during the inauguration of the Isoko ethnic nationality chapter, led by Mr. Morrister Idibra, lamenting that the state governor was not identifying well enough as their Grand Patron.
He said: “DESOPADEC was established because of the agitations of HOSTCOM, just like Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and as such we should be allowed a statutory provision in appointment and projects placement by the commission.”
Egedegbe also called on Governor Uduaghan to ensure that projects allotted to communities in DESOPADEC budgets get to the communities they were budgeted for.
