Former Governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki has been urged to join the 2015 presidential race in order to provide quality leadership for Nigeria.
The call was made by leaders of a socio-political group, New Nigeria Movement, (NNM) in a statement in Lagos.
According to the statement signed by Dr Lekan Akinwumi, Uche Ogbonna and Mallam Musa Abubakar, they said the call has become necessary following the assessment of various Nigerian leaders.
‘’Our conclusion is that Dr. Bukola Saraki who has successfully served as a state Governor for eight years and now a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria best suits our search for criteria because he is a bridge between the North and the South’’.
The group said, ‘’He is a bridge between the private and public sector and he controls a large political network that cuts across the country with a generational foundation’’.
They went further, ‘’Sen Bukola Saraki today represents the face of young generation of Nigerian leaders that are yearning for generational change in leadership.
”We are bold to say that he has been a performer as a state governor and chairman of Governors Forum with an enviable character and a formidable force in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and now a force to be reckoned with in the opposition party, All Progressives Party, (APC)’’.
The group went further, ‘’When all this are put together, we cannot but encourage this dynamic young Nigerian to throw his hat into the ring because we believe in his leadership qualities and we urge the APC to make a good choice of its candidates in the next general elections in 2015’’.
