AHEAD of the flag off of the World Economic Forum tomorrow and security arrangements to ensure that terrorists and trouble makers did not cause a breach of the peace, the Police headquarters in Abuja has ordered the deployment of scores of undercover operatives to satellite towns within and outside the federal capital.

Vanguard gathered that a massive deployment of officers of the Force Intelligence Bureau, Force Criminal Investigations Department and men of the counter terrorist unit dressed in mufti, to satellite towns like Nyanya, Suleija, Mararaba, Gwagwalada, Abaji, Kubwa, Dei-Dei, Karmo and Dutse among others, have already taken place.

Aside the deployments, the Force headquarters also ordered increased vehicular patrols. Vanguard observed Police helicopter patrols in the FCT with sources noting that the helicopters are to provide direction and information to ground personnel in case of a security breach.

Vanguard also learnt that about 5, 000 Police officers made up of all the specialized units of the force have been mobilized to provide security cordon in the federal capital territory during the period of the World Economic Forum.

Towards this end, all entry points like the Nyanya,Mararaba axis, where two bomb blasts occurred recently killing scores of people, the Suleija/Kubwa axis, the Gwagwalada/Zuba axis and the Abaji axis from where terrorists may try to infiltrate the FCT have been witnessing heavy Police presence.

A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mba regarding Police security measures said, “In a detailed Operational Order released Sunday, May 4, 2014, at the Force Headquarters Abuja, the IGP ordered the immediate deployment of men and relevant security equipment to Abuja and the satellite towns around it so as to ensure a safe, secure and conducive atmosphere before, during and after the World Economic Forum.”
