Hundreds of youngsters that thronged the centres of the audition in the ongoing MTN Football Scholar season 4 were all ecstatic about the uniqueness of the initiative. The nationwide audition which started in Port Harcourt before taking place in other cities of Calabar, Akure, Enugu and Abuja, ended in Lagos over the weekend. The kids were unanimous in their declaration that the idea of combining schooling with active football is fantastic.
The audition which formed the process of securing tickets into the camp of this year’s edition witnessed display of excellent football skills and talents by the youngsters. Apart from the well-tested and experienced coaches that drilled the boys, prominent ex-internationals were also on ground at the centres to motivate them.
The youths who were equally excited by the unique opportunity provided by MTN disclosed that while the brand is connecting their passions to their dreams in a very amazing way, it is also making their lives to be better.
Speaking at the Lagos centre, a fourteen-year old student of Kuramo Junior College, Lagos, Tunji Ahmed stated that he couldn’t wait to be part of the scholarship. “This is a wonderful initiative, and I am proud to have participated in the audition. I want to become a Lawyer in the future and as well be a professional footballer; MTN has shed light to this prospect,” he said
In the same vein, Felix Ojuah, an SS1 student of Enitonna High School, Port Harcourt, who was at the Liberation Stadium, venue of Port Harcourt centre declared that MTN is renewing their passion for football in a wonderful way. “We all love to play football at the professional stage, but we are apprehensive that it will disrupt our academics. But with this initiative, MTN is giving us a resounding hope” he stated.
