Too many people walk around with their heads bowed down like a bulrush. To them it is as if the whole world is against them. Whatever they do does not seem to prosper.
They continue to wonder why life is so difficult. Sometimes they wonder if they would ever come out of the mess. One of the most painful thing in life is seeing people that you are better than making progress while you run in a circle.
Beloveth, life is not fair. Life does not give you what you deserve; it gives you what you demand. Life itself is short but full of many troubles. For, many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him from all of them”.
There are many things that can happen to a man which will make his countenance sad, but the good Lord will give you victory over them all. Stop meditating on the troubles that you are passing through; begin to rejoice because God has promised to deliver you out of all your troubles. This is great news.
One of the reasons why people often refuse to be joyful is because they do not believe that their situation will ever change. They probably say to themselves, well this situation has been on for years now. They can never figure out how it could be resolved. We all experience such moments, though in different measures, at times. One thing you must know is that the situation is not as bad as you think.
Life challenges cast shadows many times bigger than their real challenge. But know for a surety that the situation is subject to change. Every challenge has expiry date. The only thing that will never change is God. Malachi 3:6 says;“For I am the Lord, I change not”.I want to assure you that your situation will not get any better if you continue to walk around wearing a long face and being sad or downcast. A sorrowful person is a bitter person. No good thing can come from a bitter soul.
But I can also assure you that the moment you become joyful, your whole world will change and good things will begin to happen to you.
In 1 Samuel 1, the bible talks about a woman by name Hannah. She was married and loved by her husband but she had no child. Peninnah who was both her mate and adversary had children, and oftentimes, taunted Hannah because of her childlessness. Of course, that made Hannah very bitter. No matter the love shown to her by her husband, she could not be comforted.
Every year, the whole family would leave their home and travel to Shiloh to worship and make sacrifice to the Lord God. Even after that, Hannah would still go into the temple privately to pray for a change concerning her barrenness. She also made a vow to the Lord, a very big vow. But on a closer look, you will see that the key ingredient that gave the breakthrough neither the prayers nor the vow. It was her joy level. “And she said let thine hand maid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.
The moment Hannah’s countenance was joyful despite what she was passing through, her situation changed for good. In verses 19-20, the bibles says, “…And Elkanah knew his wife, and the Lord remembered her. Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bear a son, and called his name Samuel, saying because I have asked him of the Lord”
You cannot be fruitful unless you are joyful. You draw water from the well of salvation with joy. It was not until Hannah’s countenance was no more sad her change came. You cannot be bitter and sad and expect to be fruitful. Where there is no joy, there is sadness. Breakthrough, no matter how strongly it is desired and how hard it is prayed for, do not come to people who are sad and bitter. It only comes to those who are joyful.
Once upon a time, there was a severe weather condition among God’s people: the trees that have the ability to produce fruit were withering. The produce of the field failed. dried up, the fig tree pined
away, even the palm tree withered. The palm tree can survive terrible weather conditions. So whenever the weather condition becomes so severe that the palm trees begin to wither, then there is cause for alarm. Why was this happening? Was it famine? Was it prayerlessness?
Joel 1:11-12, has the answer: Be ye ashamed, O ye vinedressers, for the field is perished. The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the son’s of men.
So, if there is no joy in your life, everything about you will wither and it will be very difficult for you to make any progress. Though you may have the ability to produce and prosper, yet fruitfulness will be far from you. This is because you lack the essential ingredient that triggers fruitfulness. That ingredient is joyfulness. God bless you, our great nation Nigeria and President Goodluck Jonathan
