Lagos – Dufil Prima Foods, makers of Nigeria’s leading noodles brand, Indomie Instant Noodles, under the auspices of its Children Fan Club has flagged off its annual Children’s Day celebration in commemoration of this year’s children’s day.
This year’s children’s day celebration which is projected to host a total of 55,000 pupils in different venues from schools across select regions for the seven daylong event, kicked off on the 20th of May at Park Land in Lagos with over 3,000 children in attendance on the first day and is expected to round off on Children’s day proper, 27th of May.
The second day of the seven daylong events happened to be a colourful one, which had in attendance among other dignitaries, the special guest of honor, wife of the Lagos State Governor, Abimbola Fashola, wives of Commissioners for Energy, Power, Justice and Education.
One of the highpoint of the event was a special prayer request made by the first Lady, Mrs. Fashola for the safe return of the Chibok girls to their parents. Other activities featured a lot of exciting activities which saw the registered members of the Indomie Fan Club from primary schools across the nation treated to sumptuous Indomie noodles and a handful of fun and intellectual activities ranging from dance competitions, train rides, bouncing castles, swings, face paintings, Quiz, debates and so on, all in a bid to deepen their social interactions.
Speaking at the event, the Special Guest of the occasion, wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dame Abimbola Fashola, commended Dufil Prima Foods for giving the Nigerian children the rare opportunity of a memorable children’s day across different regions, especially in situations where some parents might not be opportuned to take them out for a good time.
Fashola, who used the opportunity of the event to request that the children should not relent in praying for the abducted Chibok girls’ return also took time to educate the children on the need to be morally upright at all times by encouraging them to respect elders, and show love to all those around them.
“We have many leaders in the country today, but what sets them apart is their ability to perform well. I want to urge you all to be your brothers’ keepers, face your studies and be kind to those around you at all times. If you can do this, you will inevitably become good leaders someday”, she said.
Group Managing Director, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Deepak Singhal, while giving his welcome address thanked the First Lady for taking out time to be present at the event and impacting the kids with valuable morals, as he said it only goes to show that her Excellency is indeed a mother in a million.
He continued, “we at Dufil place utmost value on children because there are no doubt, a special gift to mans existence and should be nurtured with great dedication and passion; that’s why we continue to place premium on the well being and overall developmental growth of the Nigerian child as is evident in children focused projects we constantly embark upon”.
Also speaking, at the event, Mr. Tope Ashiwaju, Public Relations/ Event Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc stated that the Indomie Children’s Day celebrations was an annual activity that the company has consistently celebrated for a decade now, and the reason is not far-fetched, as it has remained a passion of the company to show appreciation and love to the children, who happen to be the brand’s core loyalists.
