A Magistrates’ Court in Ota, Ogun, on Wednesday ordered that a 64-year-old man, Paul Igboke, be remanded in prison custody pending receipt of legal advice.

Igboke, who lives at No. 26 Shobo Street in Ota, was charged with one count of attempted murder of one Okoh Charles, a trader.

The magistrate, Mrs Titi Bello, who gave the order, also directed the prosecutor, Insp. Peter Molokwu to forward the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

Bello adjourned the case until May 30.

Earlier, the prosecutor told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 6 at Power Line in Ifesowapo Akute Ajuwon area of  Ota.

He alleged that Igboke attempted to kill Charles by pinning him down and stepping on his head and body with his shoes, inflicting grievous injury on him.

Molokwu said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 320 (1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.(NAN)
