Some youths in Bauchi State, under the aegis of Bauchi South Senatorial Mobilisation, have commended Gov. Isa Yuguda for his efforts toward youth empowerment.

The leader of the group, Mallam Aliyu Galaje, gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Bauchi.

He said that Yuguda’s youth empowerment programme stood him out among his predecessors and contemporaries.

“Youth restiveness, especially by the notorious groups known as “Sara-Suka“, which hitherto terrorised the entire Bauchi metropolis because of idleness, has now become a thing of the past.

“No governor has ever given youths attention like the present administration; we never had it this good until Gov. Yuguda took the state’s mantle of leadership.

“Many of our youths are now engaged in meaningful economic ventures through his skills acquisition and other youths empowerment programmes.

“He has given us something to do to help ourselves and the community; he has given us education and gave quite a number of our youths local and foreign scholarship.

“Over 200 students are currently studying different professional courses in more than 20 foreign countries under the state scholarship scheme,’’ he said.

Galaje said that the empowerment programmes had taken most of the youths from the street and given them hope of better future.

He described the governor’s interventions in the education, health, tourism, transport and aviation sectors with the establishment of international airport as commendable.

NAN reports that “Sara-Suka“ are groups of idle youths who use knives, cutlasses and other sharp objects to stab, cut and inflict injuries on their victims.

The group eventually became ready tools as thugs for politicians. (NAN)
