According to GEN, each team will include a journalist, a developer and a designer, who will strive to build a working prototype of news application or digital service during the event.

According to the organiser, no previous work or preparation is needed for participating in the event to be hosted by Vanguard.

The Editors Lab is a worldwide series of hackdays hosted by some of the world’s leading newsrooms, which ends in an international two-day final Hackathon at the GEN Summit, on 11 to 13 June in Barcelona, Spain.

It aims at addressing the need for more collaborative innovation in newsrooms and facilitating the generation of new ideas, while providing best practice mentoring from industry leaders.
