Lagos – Kazeem Makanjuola, the 2013 winner of the National Table Tennis Classic, on Wednesday said he was fully prepared for the forthcoming World Team Table Tennis Championships scheduled for Tokyo, Japan.
The Championships will hold from April 28 to May 5.
Makanjuola said that he had done the needful to ensure that he had a good outing at the competition by training rigorously.
“I have been training so hard for this competition since I came back from my GAC Group 2014 ITTF World Tour Open in Spain.
“I was also in Kuwait from Feb. 12 to Feb. 16, and in Doha, Qatar, from Feb. 18 to Feb. 23 for training tours.
“These are my build up for the Japan Championships and I am not leaving out any area in my training,’’ he said.
Makanjuola, seeded number one in Nigeria, said he was prepared both physically and psychologically for the Championships.
“There is need for me to have an open mind free of worries and be balanced to excel and I am doing just that.
“I want to use the opportunity to prove myself and make Nigerians believe in me that I have what it takes to make the country proud,’’ he said.
The first runner up at the 2014 Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) maiden pilot league said that he was going into the Championships to play according to the instructions of NTTF Coach, Nosiru Bello.
“The coach has been very instrumental to my training and he points out areas that I need to work on and I have been doing just that,’’ he said. (NAN)
