UGHELLI—A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Mr. Amaechi Ogbonna, has appealed to the national leadership of the party to review the recent local government congress held in the state.

Alleging that congress was marred with irregularities and manipulations, Ogbonna said the ward and council congress should be reviewed for the purpose of strengthening internal democracy of the party.
According to him, “the people have totally rejected the congress held so far in the state and are calling on the leadership of the party to look into it with a view of conducting a fresh one for the purpose of transparency.

The principle of internal democracy has to be respected.”
In another development, a chieftain of the party in the state, Mr Lawson Emakpo has called on members of the party vote a credible person as state chairman of the party in the forthcoming state congress.

Emakpo insisted that the party needed a credible person with good pedigree to wrest power from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2015 elections, stressing the need for the party to vote Chief Adolo Okotie-Eboh as its state chairman.

Noting that Okotie-Eboh was the only committed and tested person with a good track record to pilot the affairs of the party at the state level, he charged members of the party to be mindful of imposition of a candidate that could destabilise the party.
