LAGOS—ASSOCIATION of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, yesterday in Lagos, rejected plans by the Federal Government to retrench 1,050 civil servants on the allegation that they were in the service illegally.
According to Labour, such excuse was not only spurious, but could be a smokescreen to sack innocent workers who had served the nation meritoriously for decades.
The body in a statement demanded that no retirement in whatever form should take place until all stakeholders including labour verified the claim of the government.
It argued that if government’s decision was not a ploy to retire innocent workers, it should have no difficult in setting up a Government/Labour panel to fish out the purported “illegal civil servants.”
