UMUAHIA — A former aide of Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State, Ben Onyechere, has said campaign of calumny launched against the governor by his opponents has not deterred him from laying the necessary foundation for development of the state.
According to him, the wave of criticism against the governor is no longer in vogue because the people can clearly see the development he had brought to bear on the state so far.
Onyechere, in a chat with newsmen in Umuahia, said “The current political dispensation of the nation, Abia State situation is peculiar in the sense that while others are developing existing foundations, the state is engaged in the task of not only laying the requisite foundations but also charting a developmental roadmap geared towards elevating the infrastructural status of the state.
”The incessant criticism against the state by a preceding governor is not only a trick to divert attention of the public from the deficiencies of the past administration, which are myriad, but also an attempt in futility to render negative the achievements of the governor simply because he has succeeded where others failed.
“But today, it is clearly evident the governor has pulled the wool from the eyes of the public such that the politics of development by propaganda is now an old fashion. Nonetheless it is too late in the day to hinder the multifaceted achievement at rebuilding Abia, which formerly fell in the category of abandoned project and no act of mischief or misdemeanor can turn the hand of the clock backwards.”
