In the face of the lingering face0ff between Coach Stephen Keshi and the Nigeria Football Federation and the ensuing distractions it make cause to Eagles World Cu preparations, Super Eagles coaches have secretly agreed and pledged to work together to ensure a good out9ng at the World Cup.
There appears to be no love lost between Keshi and his employers, who last week queried the former Togo and Mali handler, over his behaviour, which the NFF deemed to be getting out of hand.
And following up from that query signed by Emmanuel Ikpeme, it was gathered that Keshi called a meeting of all his coaches, where he told them of the query and sought their cooperation on the World Cup project.
Unfolding what happened to Sports Vanguard, one of the coaches, said that Keshi told the coaches that they must not allow the distractions from the NFF to undermine their preparations for the Mundial.
Keshi reminded the coaches that they must draw inspiration from the Eagles outing at the last African Cup of Nations in South Africa, where against all odds and distractions, they rose high to tinker the Eagles to the title triumph. And in a strong show of camaraderie, the coaches pledged their total support for Keshi, noting that they were prepared to swim and sink with their head coach, who we gathered, was encouraged by the support he got from his assistants.
It is recalled that at the last AFCON in South Africa, the NFF queried Sylvanus Okpalla before the semifinal match against Mali, which caused Keshi to call a meeting of the technical crew of what stance to take.
But during the time, it was learnt that Okpalla advised Keshi and the other coaches to see his query as another attempt to distract the team from achieving their target in South Africa. Okpalla’s advice was heeded by the coaching crew and the Eagles went on to defeat Mali and Burkina Faso in the final of the tournament.
