Boko Haram sect attacks Yobe mosque, kills 17

Damaturu  – Violence erupted again in the early hours of Saturday in Yobe state, as gunmen suspected to be of BokoHaram sect in 15 Hilux vehicles and motorcycles attacked a mosque in Buni/Gari town with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and petrol-bombs killed 17 people and torching of several houses .

Buni/Gari is 60 kilometres south of Damaturu, the state capital; and six kolimetres south of the Federal Government College, Buni/Yadi, where about 29 students were slain last month.

The gunmen, according to an eyewitness and resident of Buni/Gari, Ibrahim Isa, came through Biu road chanting God is great in Arabic, before shooting sporadically at the people in the mosque at dawn prayers.
