Delta community dismisses ex-militants’ 7-day ultimatum

Okerenkoko community, in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, has dismissed the seven-day ultimatum given to the state government and the judiciary to release Chief Michael Johnny, Chief Mosco Johnny and six other leaders of the community from detention.

The ultimatum was issued on Monday by one Johnson Ebierede, claiming to be among former freedom fighters from Okerenkoko community.

But Apostle Ebierede German,  a leader in Okerenkoko, who dismissed the ultimatum, yesterday, on behalf of the community, said the publication was concocted to mislead the Delta State Government, the judiciary and the general public, including security agencies.

Ebierede said that there was no person in the entire Okerenkoko bearing Johnson Ebierede, adding “the publication was another plot to indict the detainees and malign the people of Okerenkoko. I urge the state government and security agencies to be on alert.”
