Daniel’s faction holds LP’s ward congresses in Ogun

ABEOKUTA — A faction of the Labour Party in Ogun State, loyal to former  governor of  the state, Otunba Gbenga  Daniel on Saturday held wards congresses in all the 236 wards across the state and appointed the wards  executives.

The exercise, which commenced at 10 a.m. was reportedly  witnessed and supervised by  the officials of the Independent Naitional Electoral Commission, INEC, the Department of  State  Service  as well as members of the Nigeria Police Force

But the other faction led by the factional  Chairman in the state,  Olabode  Simeon faulted the congresses, describing them as Daniel’s family meeting.

The media aide to Daniel, Ayo Giwa in a statement, Sunday,  said,  the  Acting Chairman of Ogun State Labour Party, John Olaleye has  described the  exercise as a huge success going by the overwhelming enthusiasm shown by party members in their collective resolve to rout the ruling party in the forthcoming elections.

“The Local governments where the exercise took place included Imeko Afon,  Yewa North, Yewa South,  Ipokia, Ado Odo Ota, Sango Ota, Ewekoro, Ifo,  Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, ,Odeda,  Obafemi Owode, Remo North, Ikenne, Sagamu, Odogbolu, Ijebu Ode, Ijebu North East,  Ijebu East,  and Ogun Waterside Local Governments”, he said .

Reacting to the wards congresses held  by Daniel’s faction,  the factional Secretary of the party in the state, Sunday Ogini in a statement  described Daniel  and his followers as lawless politicians.
