The Centenary celebrations of our great nation Nigeria has come and gone, but while the President was busy handing out medals, pins and certificates of honour to the various recipients, his fans on his facebook page ‘Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’ were at war!

It was hot on social media in the past week, and like a real battle, the ‘warriors’ had a common grieviance – many of those who recieved the awards did not deserve it, they say.

Most of the comments are unpublishable but we were able to lift a few…

Oluwatosin Olakunle Oladipupo wrote  “Oga Jonah!!! I just bought fuel @ 250naira per liter. This hardship is unbearable. There is no justification for this centenary celebration. This hardship is felt more by the common man that has no friend or family that owns petrol stations.”

Abiodun Ajibade also wrote “Sometimes ago, some of these past presidents avoided National Council of State meeting because they have a grouse against Jonathan. While they should have used the opportunity to advise the President face to face rather than on the face of newspapers for political interest. Unfortunately, they are very smart to receive a centenary award from the same so called bad leader. Is this not a show of selfishness? Nigerians are not really blessed with selfless leaders rather the selfish lots.”

Ekemodee Wole on his part wrote “Mr. president, thanks for honouring the widow of the most wicked head of states in nigeria who slew his offenders”

But the President had his supporters. One Frederick Enok wrote  “Well done sir for the courage & resistance to both internal & external forces. And I pray, sir, that the populace in it’s entirety give you yet another mandate as they did before to complete your mission. Nigerians Love you!”
