LAGOS—Lagos State Government has concluded plans to construct wastewater plants in housing estates across the state as part of effort at reducing the rate of pollution through channeling of wastewater in the lagoon.
Governor Babatunde Fashola disclosed this after inspecting the Abesan Wastewater Treatment Plant, which currently serves the Abesan Housing Estate in Mosan Okunola Local Council Development Area of the state.

He said plans were already ongoing to construct a new wastewater plant in Odo-Iyalaro in Ojota area and some other housing estates aimed at addressing the issue of channeling wastewater into lagoons.
The governor who expressed satisfaction with the capacity of the plant said it was only possible due to the commitment of the state’s Ministry of Environment which maintains the facility.
