Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Otunba Iyiola Omisore will today in Osogbo formally declare his governorship ambition for the August elections in the state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.

Prominent PDP leaders such as the Vice President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, Senate President, David Mark, PDP governors, members of the National Assemly and PDP EXCO members are expected to grace the occassion.
Meanwhile, the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in Osun state has warned its members to stay off the campaign ground and desist from any action capable of threatening the peace of the state.

According to the party,”Authentic information has reached the All Progressives Congress that the People’s Democratic Party intends to create bloody mayhem in Osogbo tomorrow,(today) when one of its  aspirants, Mr. Iyiola Omisore declares his intention to contest for the PDP’s ticket in the August gubernatorial election”.

The party has therefore called on all its supporters to keep the peace at all costs by avoiding all engagement with, or present at the venue
of the event.

The party also asked its member to exercise utmost restraint even at the worst provocation from the PDP.

This, according to a statement released by the party’s interim chairman, Elder ‘Lowo Adebiyi, “is to forestall the actualisation of the violence that the PDP intends to characterise the next
gubernatorial election with”.

The party advised the APC’s members and  supporters to concentrate on the on-going party’s registration exercise in order to make it a grand success.

The party also urged the police and law enforcement agencies to be out in force tomorrow to ensure that the State is kept safe and peaceful as it has been in the last 38 months.

It will be recalled that in the last couple of days, the APC had sent alerts to the security forces that the PDP is allegedly planning to create confusion in the state by confronting the governor and the APC during their programmes in towns and cities around the state.
