The management of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company, EKEDC, has lamented the spate of vandalism of its facilities and continuous brutalisation of its workers by members of the public while discharging their legitimate duties.
The company’s Assistant General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr. Godwin Idemudia, said the company was deeply worried over the daily attacks on both its staff and wanton destruction of facilities on allegations of“not too impressive power supply situation.”
Aside from the load limitation from the national grid, Idemudia said the major challenge bedeviling the company and the power sector at large, was consistent vandalism of its facilities, including cable and transformers.
In a statement made available to Vanguard, Idemudia noted that over time, members of the public had continued to vent their anger on the company’s staff and facilities.
