OWERRI — Angry reactions have started trailing the appointment of former national president of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Professor Ukachukwu Awuzie, as the substantive vice chancellor of Imo State University, IMSU, Owerri.
Odinma Owerri, a socio-cultural group comprising chieftains of different political parties operating in the state, rose from an emergency meeting, weekend, and condemned the appointment of Awuzie.
“It is a matter for regret that Governor Rochas Okorocha did not find any academic from Owerri zone fit to occupy the seat.
“It is sad that Okorocha picked as VC somebody that came a far third from the three presented to him,” chairman of Odinma Owerri, Sir Oliver Enwerenem, fumed.
