THE Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has slashed land application fee in the area councils from N100,000 to N50,000.

The FCT Minister, Bala Muhammad, who announced the reduction at a People’s Democratic Party, PDP, stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, said the new policy had become necessary, considering that the value of land within the 250 square kilometres of the Federal Capital City was not the same with plots in the area councils and the satellite towns.

According to him, the new policy would afford the less-privileged residents of the FCT more access to land to build their homes and reduce congestion in the city centre.

The minister, however, lamented that the administration required over N200 billion for resettlement and compensation of villages within the FCT.
