Abuja – The Senate President, David Mark, on Friday in Abuja tasked the Super Eagles to step up their game so as to beat the Atlas Lions of Morocco on Saturday.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Senate President, Mr Paul Mumeh.
The Nigeria’s Eagles will take on the Lions in a quarter-final match at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa.
Mark, in the statement, implored the Nigerian side not to give room for any flaw in the crucial encounter, adding that they should give no chance to the opponents.
“So far, you have done well. But, in the remaining matches, you should step up your game and ensure that you give your opponents no chance at all.
“Your victory is important to the nation, in order to make us a clear soccer leader in Africa,” the statement said.
It further enjoined the players to win the trophy not just for the national pride but as a vital birthday gift to team head coach Stephen Keshi who turned 52 on Thursday.
“The nation is eagerly waiting and we are in prayers for your success in South Africa.
“The Federal Government will do its part of the bargain, in terms of your adequate welfare,’’ the statement said.
It also commended Keshi and his technical crew colleagues for transforming the national team to a pride of the country.(NAN)
