HALELUYAH. You made it to another Christmas. The season of joy, peace and goodwill to all men. Of a truth God is really good to you. The best however is yet to come. God still has so much in store for you and by His grace He will manifest them in your life and all that concerns you. Merry Christmas to you and your entire household.

Now what is the significance of Christmas that the world all over is celebrating? People are today celebrating Christmas without having an understanding, and so do not enjoy the benefits. Some think it is a time of merriment in the sense of drinking, partying and all manner of immoral acts. However, the reverse is the case. Of a truth, it is the season of merriment but of a different kind. Christmas was born to eradicate all manner of evil and to establish the Kingdom of God here on earth.

When God created the heavens and the earth, He made all things good. When man was made, God said he was very good. God gave man the dominion of all things on the earth (Gen 1:26-28). After the fall of the enemy satan, God cast him out of heaven to the earth. While on earth, satan the devil made man to fall out of the place of God (Gen 3). Thus man lost the presence and glory of God and in essence the authority to rule over the earth. Man handed his earthly kingship to the devil (Luke 4:6), who is today referred to as the god of this world (2 Cor. 4:4). With the fall of man came sorrow, hardship, death, sickness, poverty and all manner of evil.

The beauty of it all is that God did not allow the devil to have its way. In Gen 3:15, God said, “I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel”. God made a way for man to be reconciled back to Him through the birth of His Son Jesus Christ, who will destroy the works of the devil and place man back again in his original position of authority and glory. Thus enjoying God’s presence once again.

In Luke 2:6-14, the bible says, “ And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them; and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior , which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God , and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men”.

Thus, Christmas is heavens new agenda for man. Mankind was being baptized with the joy of heaven. You cannot abide in God’s presence with sorrow. Adam was driven from God’s presence because of sorrow. Why? In God’s presence is joy. You can’t hear God without joy in your heart.  The angel said, Jesus would bring glad tidings of great joy to all men. You are included in all men. This simply means He is reversing everything that causes you sorrow. Let the joy of the Lord be your strength. Don’t stop the move of God in your life. Allow God to have His way. Let the joy of God dominate your life.

He also came to give peace on earth. It is the peace that passeth all human understanding (Phil 4:7). This peace that no man can give to you because it is divine, sets the pace for God’s intervention in our lives (Exo 14:14; Ps 46:10). Position and possessions does not guarantee peace. Jesus is the only source of this peace.

Finally, Christmas (the birth of Christ) brings good will to all people. This connotes blessings. It is the will of God to bless you. I welcome you to your season of blessings. Know that Christ came to enhance your values. Between this Christmas and next Christmas no one will say sorry to you and you will surprise yourself.

I speak joy, peace and good will that come through the birth of Jesus Christ our Saviour into all your concerns and to our great nation Nigeria. Once again, let Christ be seen in your celebration and we wish you all a Testimony filled New Year, where Christ reigns and causes us to encounter great Restoration in 2012.
