Despite being disowned by the family after the death of Sunny Okosun, Ethel Okosun and organisers of Exquisite Face of the Universe World Finals deemed it fit last week to honour the singer with a tribute performance at the grand finale of the pageant.
At the event, Eazy Okosun, brother of the popular musician got on stage and performed a number of Okosun’s memorable songs including ‘African Soldier’ and ‘Orimolade’ to the toast of the guests.
His performance was punctuated with reminiscence. The Exquisite Face of the Universe world finals took place last Thursday, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos and had over 30 beauty queens from different countries compete for the coveted crown.
19-year-old Miss Dominican Republic, Susan Castano, however, emerged winner of the pageant, walking away with the cash prize of $10,000. Miss Sweden Makda Tewoldeberhan was chosen as the 1st runner-up with a cash prize of $4000 while Miss Brazil, Souza Paula was the 2nd runner up with a cash prize of $2000.
