Birnin Kebbi – The Kebbi Director of Sports, Alhaji Usman Ladan, on Thursday commended a member of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, for reviving the state’s Super League.

Ladan told newsmen in Birnin Kebbi that the revival of the league was through the sponsorship by Sanusi, who is the Director of Competition of the federation.

“Dr. Sanusi had financed the competition in addition to the provision of trophies for the champions and runners-up.

“He also supported the league with the gold, silver, bronze medals for the best three clubs in the league.

“The sponsorship of the league has raised enthusiasm among the youth and a challenge to others to support sports and youth development.

“The revival of the league will offer opportunities for local clubs to participate in the national division three amateur league and improve the standard of the game in the state,’’ Ladan said.

The director assured that the revived league would be sustained to encourage more sponsors.

He appealed to private and public organisations to emulate the sponsor, especially for the growth of the game and to support the efforts of government in youth development.

Ladan also urged the FA to work closely with stakeholders to attract sponsors of football competition in the state.

The  Galadima Babes and Everton FC from Jega Local Government Area qualified for the finals slated for Dec. 23. (NAN
