BENIN— SECRETARY to Government of Edo State, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, yesterday, declared that his former party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would continue to lose more governors and National Assembly members, if it continued to promote corruption and dictatorship.
Ihonvbere, who stated this when he received a delegation of Edo in Safe Hands,a pressure group in Edo State, at Government House Benin City, however, called on members of All Progressives Congress, APC, to work hard in the coming year to become the ruling party in the country.
He said: “Let me say that we have a lot of work to do in the country in the coming year and we thank God that our party is now majority in the House of Representatives. We will soon be majority in the Senate if we work hard and if this character of impunity and dictatorship continues.
”If somebody had told me we would have this number of governors in this number of states as APC states, I would have asked the person which crystal ball he looked at. But politics in Nigeria works in different ways and if the Federal Government and the PDP people continue to behave the way they are behaving, it is very clear they will lose more governors, senators and House of Representatives members to the APC.”
