Lagos – A Tourism Consultant, Mr Ikechukwu Uko, Monday, advised the Federal Government to grant five-year tax holiday to tourism operators.

Uko, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Naija 7 Wonders, gave the advice in an interview in Lagos.

He said that the tax holiday would reduce the costs incurred by tourism operators.

“The tax holiday will allow operators to focus on the core duties like provision of a suitable environment for relaxation, sight-seeing and facilitating trips to choice destinations all over the world, “Uko said.

He said that the tourism sector would achieve its full potential if government could give credit facilities for the operators.

“ Industry stakeholders will grow when credit facilities are given at less than two digits interest rate, less administrative charges and with fewer conditions,’’ the expert said.

Uko said it was regrettable that most states did not have well articulated policies on tourism.

“ Besides Cross River and Ekiti, there are really none of the states with viable policies on tourism, “ he told NAN. (NAN)
