Akure – Chukwuma Akabueze, former under-20 forward, has said he would be happy to put on the green and white shirt again for the country anytime soon.
Akabueze made the disclosure in an interview on Saturday in Akure.
The former forward had played for Sunshine Stars of Akure, Rangers International of Enugu and Kwara United, before moving to Norway and currently plays for a Chinese liga club, Wuhan Zall.
He said he was happy that the Super Eagles would be in Brazil for the World Cup and believed the Coach Stephen Keshi-tutored side would perform in Brazil.
He added that he had been capped three times for the country and had one goal to his credit.
He noted that “I will be happy if I have more opportunities to wear the jersey of the national team again.
“It is one of the opportunities that I have been waiting for, as I played in the qualifiers for the U-20 World Cup in Canada 2007 and also in the world cup.’’
The player had earlier said he was planning to return to Europe to improve his chances of being called-up.
“I am working toward coming back to play for the Super Eagles, that is why I am trying to go back to Europe.
“If I play in Europe, I have a big chance of playing with the Super Eagles again,” he added.
Akabueze later predicted Germany, Brazil and Spain as likely winners of the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
He said he was in Akure due to break in the Chinese league, adding that he had organised a tournament as a way of giving back to the community and advised young talents to be patient and obedient. (NAN)
