Enugu—There is now uneasy calm within the leadership of the Ex-Biafran War Veteran Welfare Association following the alleged plot to hijack the association by a group of persons.
Following this situation, the National Coordinator of the association, Col. Emmanuel Ossai, has disassociated his group from the proposed plan by a splinter group to march to Abuja over the delay by the Federal Government in the payment of their entitlements.
Ossai who spoke to newsmen in Enugu said that although they had been mounting pressures on the authorities to reintegrate them into the main stream of the Nigerian Army, they had not discussed the issue of protesting in Abuja.
Flanked by Coordinators from Abia, Rivers, Bayelsa, Imo and Enugu, states, Ossai further noted that the splinter group led by Lt. Col. Victor Onah has since been expelled from the association, adding that it ought not to have been speaking for the association.
According to him, the idea of appealing for reintegration and rehabilitation was not to confront the authority, recalling how he was instructed by the late Ikemba of Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu not to be violent against any constituted authority.
