MAIDUGURI—The Borno State government is to spend about N300 million on the construction of the Maiduguri Water Works “C” in the Alamderi area of the state.
The project which is expected to generate seven million litres of water per day would ease the problems of water scarcity in Bulumkutu and the environs.
State Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Mai Sheriff made this known at a ministerial briefing to mark the second year anniversary of Governor Kashim Shettima in office.
He said that work at the Water Works “C” had commenced in earnest and was expected to be completed before December, this year.
This came as the government had also purchased pipes worth N88 million for routine repairs and replacement of broken pipes within the metropolis.
According to him, the staff of the ministry were already laying pipes in the benefiting communities even as drilling of 12 boreholes and construction of reservoir and over head tanks would soon start. The government said about 130 boreholes were being drilled across the 27 local government areas of the state.
