Human Rights group, Youth and Conflict Resolution Initiatives, YCRI, has called on the federal government to hold Borno Elders and Leaders of Thoughts, BELT, responsible for the continuous threat of Boko Haram and the bomb blasts in Kano that killed over 60 people and injured many others.
According to the group, the BELT has never supported the JTF or the federal government, instead, their words and actions seem to frustrate the efforts of JTF in the fight against terror groups in the north.
While condemning Monday’s attack on innocent Nigerians, YCRI in a release signed by its Director of International Relations, Mr Efemena Agadama, maintained that Nigeria would not know peace until Borno state is totally freed of terrorists.

“Every violence has a source. Maiduguri is the source of Boko Haram’s existence and Nigeria will not know peace until Borno state is totally freed of terrorists. The source has to be cleaned and purified”, the statement further stressed that the bomb blast in Kano could be a plan by terrorists to divert military operations from Maiduguri.
YCRI also condemned the call by some groups on the federal government to withdraw JTF from part of the north describing it as a sinister ploy to allow terrorists space to move ammunition, train new recruits, flourish and spread to other parts of the country.
“It is more important to volunteer information to the security services than to endanger their operations or call for their withdrawal. This is the time to support the federal government and the JTF to rescue Nigeria from this evil.”
