ABEOKUTA-A sudden mid-day fire outbreak, Wednesday gutted a section of Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state’s private residence at Ibara Housing Estate in Abeokuta and almost killing the wife of the governor’s elder brother Alhaja Abidoye Amosun.
The woman was reported to have ran out of the affected room when the incident occurred allegedly crying for help from the neighbours in the Government Reserved Area (GRA).
The fire which razed the entire room and affected the adjourning kitchen of the bungalow was reported to have destroyed some valuables, including clothes, shoes, and electrical appliances worth several millions of naira.
An eye-witness told Vanguard that the inferno was as a result of the electric power surge which reportedly sparked off the fire that started from the governor’s elder brother’s wife bedroom.
The source further said that the fire started around 1: pm and lasted for about 30 minutes before the men of Ogun state fire service arrived the scene in a fire fighting vehicle with number plate OG 127 A09.
