Ibadan (NAN) – Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has warned traders against displaying their wares on the newly reconstructed Bodija bridge.

Ajimobi, who  gave the warning while inaugurating the bridge on Monday in Ibadan, also said  government would not tolerate dumping of refuse in the river.

The bridge, now christened ‘Restoration Bridge’, was one of  those  washed away by the August 2011 flood which ravaged  Ibadan.

The governor said the tragic experience of the flood made government to embark on the widening of rivers and streams in the state  before the 2012 rains.

He stated further that the reconstruction of the bridges was in fulfilment of the promises made by his administration that government would do everything possible to make life more meaningful for the people.

The governor added that other bridges,  which were still being constructed, would be inaugurated soon.

Ajimobi commended residents for their  patience and understanding while the construction lasted.

He appealed to them to make good use of the bridge  to justify the huge investment on it.

Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, Ayo Adeseun and members of the House of Representatives from the state were among the dignitaries  at the ceremony. (NAN)
