S-West PDP moves to reclaim region
By Bashir Adefaka
WARRING factions of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the six states of the South-West of Nigeria will converge in Abuja today, to discuss peace, reconcile and agree on collective way forward.
Top on the agenda, Vanguard gathered, is how to reclaim the region from the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.
According to Vanguard’s findings, leaders of the factions and other members have now agreed to work together for the general good of the zone after they realised that the setback suffered by the party in their respective states at the last elections was a product of their split into factions.
They are said to have agreed to work assiduously for success in future elections including the 2014/2015 governorship.
Confirming the development to Vanguard, yesterday, former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Chief Olabode George, said the Abuja meeting of the SouthWest PDP leaders had become necessary to restore normalcy in the party.
He said: “If you look at it very well, you would realise that the progress the ACN claimed to have recorded in the states they took was as a result of disunity among us.
If we were united, who was ACN to look at PDP in the face, talking about electoral capability? To this end, all warring parties have agreed to now come together. We are meeting in Abuja on Thursday and those who should apologize will not feel shy to do so.”
