“Please, honourable Minister assure Mr. President that he has a strong support from Delta State. The South-South States are also solidly behind him, we are giving him all the support we can and by the grace of God he will succeed”, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has said.
The governor who stated this weekend in Asaba, when he hosted the National Good Governance Team led by the Minister of Information Mr. Labaran Maku, to a dinner party stated unequivocally that Delta State was solidly behind Mr. President and would do its best to support the policies and programmes of the administration.
Uduaghan noted that the tour would benefit every one and showcase the democratic achievements of the various tiers of government to Nigerians.
While commending the South-South States for their support to the Jonathan administration, the Minister expressed the team’s appreciation to the Government of Delta State for the massive development taking place in the State, noting that the State was moving forward because of the developmental projects.
“This is a time you are making history for having one of your own as the President and you are making great impact in the transformation of Nigeria”, he added.
…. Delta high in micro credit programme
Meantime, the Information Minister has commended the State Government for initiating the programme the micro-credit programme aimed at reducing crime and empowering the youths, women and the needy in the society as well as promotion of employment for both the skilled and unskilled Deltans.
He said, “I wish to expressed my delight that this programme is empower the ordinary Nigerians and encouraging the ordinary people to be economically independent by taking them out of poverty. I commend the state government for the putting this programme in place as it has made the ordinary citizens employers of labour and exporters of Nigerian products”.
Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan had earlier while conducing the team round the Micro-Credit exhibition stand in Asaba said that the State government had disbursed a total ot N2.7 billion as loans to over 100,000 beneficiaries on its micro-credit programme since 2007.
His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan stated this today while conducting members of the National Good Governance Tour team round the Micro-Credit Programme Exhibition Stand in Asaba.
