Osun demolishes 3000 out of 4000 dilapidated school buildings

OSOGBO — OSUN State Government has demolished 3,000 school buildings out of the 4,000 identified to be dilapidated  across the 30 local government areas in the state.

However, the government has allayed the fear of residents on the planned merger of the primary and post primary schools in the state, saying the aim is to totally overhaul the education sector for the benefit all stakeholders.

But old students of Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo, one of the affected schools have condemned the action, saying it would further aggravate the problem of the students who would travel several kilometres to get to their new school.

Chairman, Osun Schools Infrastructure Development Committee, Chief Lai Oyeduntan, while speaking with newsmen, said  the committee had identified schools with dangerou sly dilapidated structures.
