Ex-Eagles in diaspora mourn Isima

The Association of Nigerian Ex-Internationals in the Diaspora (ANED) has said that the passage of one of their one, Okey Isima was a huge loss to the Nigerian football community.

Disclosing this in an e-mail message yesterday, the former players said that they were extremely saddened with the death of Isima, who played for the Green Eagles in the 1980s.

While describing the late Isima as a committed and fine footballer,  group, comprising the likes of Christian Nwokocha, Paul Okoku, Andrew Atuegbu, Tony Igwe, Thomson Usiyan,Nathaniel Ogedegbe and Francis Moniedafe said that their departed colleague was going to be remembered for his humane spirit while alive.

“It is with a bleeding heart,deep sorrow and great shock that the Association of Ex-Super Green Eagles in Diaspora (ANED) received the sad news about the passing away to glory of our dear friend,brother and colleague,Mr Okey Isima of Nsubge in Otuocha local government area in Anambra State,Nigeria.

“Our holistic submissive appraisal of Mr Okey Isima is that he is a sportsman extraordinaire. He is honest,smart and an embodiment of selflessness and humility. Death is funny.Even though the entire ANED members are still shocked at the sad news,we are laughing today,at least,Mr Okey Isima lived.He lived and died,unlike many who died before they lived.Thank you,Mr Okey Isima for all you have contributed to our beloved country,Nigeria.

“ Our deepest condolence goes to the family, who we pray will be be comforted by the warm memories of their dearly departed. ANED are with you in prayers. May Mr Okey Isima’s soul and the souls of all faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace”, wrote the group.
