UMUAHIA—Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State has called on the Federal Government to include youths in the state in its amnesty programme.

According to him, the peace and security in the state is only a temporary relief as failure to get the youths who were involved in armed robbery and kidnapping busy with amnesty training programme may bring them out of their hideouts.

The governor, who made the call when he received members of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, also tasked the NDDC to complete several abandoned projects in the state.

Orji said: “The boys behind the criminal activities in the state years back are still around, but they are lying low because of the security network we have put in place and the only way they will be kept quiet is for them to be cued into the amnesty programme”.
