Sanaa – A Yemeni military helicopter crashed in a crowded neighbourhood in the central area of the capital Sanaa on Tuesday, leaving at least five people killed and several others injured, local officials said.
Officials at the operation room of the Yemeni Air Force Base confirmed that a military helicopter crashed near the Sanaa University in downtown Sanaa, where thousands of protesters against former President Ali Abdullah Saleh have been camping for nearly
two years.
One of the officials said that the crashed helicopter was a “Russian-made Sokhoi”.
According to a Yemen Times report, the chopper was on a training mission when it crashed.
Rescue operations were on with ambulances moving the injured to hospitals.
